Welcome to Winchester Symphony Orchestra's 75th season.
The orchestra has come a long way since that first concert in 1951 as the Winchester Amateur Orchestral Society. There were 28 players then and the repertoire was mainly from the Classical period. Over the years there have been five Musical Directors, and each has challenged the orchestra to grow and improve. Our sixth Musical Director, Daniel Hogan, is once again stretching the boundaries, challenging the players and engaging with new audiences. Now, WSO is a mature symphony orchestra with 75 members, including full wind and brass sections, meeting every Monday evening to tackle a diverse range of repertoire. We perform at least three concerts each year, often to sold-out halls, featuring extremely talented professional soloists.
