Description:	The centrepiece of our season is Mahler’s great resurrection symphony, No. 2. In 1900 Alma Schindler was learning composition from Alexander von Zemlinsky and the two began a romantic relationship but it did not last much more than a year before she Mahler began a relationship. They were secretly engaged before she told Zemlinsky and broke off her relationship with him. This programme highlights the contrasting styles of 3 composers whose lives overlapped so much and who are all still remembered and revered over a century later.
